Therefore, it is important for you to know of ways you can control the discomfort at least until the dentist can see you.
But before you even start any form of treatment for the pain, you should try to figure out the cause first. Pain is just a signal sent out to the brain from our body, telling it something is not right. With dental pain, there is obviously an oral problem you are experiencing which needs to be addressed immediately.
There are many reasons for oral pain, most of which are serious like a damaged filling, tooth decay or fracture, abscessed tooth to infected gums. Most of which can result in even more complications such as loss of tooth if not treated as soon as possible. Reducing the Inflammation

When applying, be sure to use a thin piece of cloth as a buffer between the cold item and your face. Otherwise, you can end up damaging your skin.
Take Anti-Inflammatory Medicine

You can do this with the help of anti-inflammatory medication, the most popular being ibuprofen. Read the label and take the medication as described, usually every few hours. The medication doesn’t serve as a treatment but does numb the pain for a few hours.
Warm salt water can be used to rinse your mouth to provide temporary relief from the pain. As you rinse, make sure not to swallow the water.
Similar to an ice pack, a hot pack can be used to help reduce the pain. You need to apply it to the side of the face that experiences pain. If you don’t have a hot pack available then you can fill a sock with rice and heat it up in the microwave for a few minutes to use as one.
Acupressure has been used to help treat pain and give body relief for years. There are some links to specific pressure points throughout the body that link with oral discomfort. Toothache pain is relieved when specific key points are targeted through acupressure. You can look into this option if the ones above don’t provide any relief.
Peppermint Tea Bags
You can cool peppermint tea bags in the freezer and apply them to the area of the pain. The tea bags are known to have some numbing properties so can provide some relief to the pain for a short period of time.
Going to the Dentist
